Most brides tend to have decided on their wedding dresses since when they were four years old (laughs). Unfortunately, fast forward about 20+ years later between the seemingly endless selection of dress styles, shapes, fabrics, and all the discounts available in the market, it can be a lot more daunting than enjoyable. I hate to see a bride break a sweat trying to pick the perfect gown, so here's a short guide to help, right after the cut :-)...
Keep your setting in mind while you're trying on dresses. A sexy slipdress will be out of place in a cathedral, while a glam ball gown won't look right for say, a beach wedding. Always think about the venue and ask yourself if you'd be comfortable in the dress at the venue of your wedding.
Consider the weather. I once had a girlfriend who got married in December in Jos and wore a sexy low-cut everythang gown made from a lightweight fabric. The poor thing was so cold and eventually had to wear the groom's suit throughout the wedding. Don't be a learner o (hahahaha).
Stream the theme of your wedding. There's no point wearing a very formal wedding gown when your decor, music and stationery scream informal. Always channel the spirit of your wedding and let it reflect in the choice of your gown.
Understand you body type. There's a gown for every body type but you need to know what works for you. Whether you're plus-size, petite, larger busted, or completely
lacking curves, the right style paired with genius design details can
give you the look you've always dreamed of. I'll do a post soon on picking the perfect gown for your body - keep it locked.
Live Your Fantasy!!! Ok, so after all that, here's where I say throw out the rulebook. This is your dream and your big day—if you want to wear a ball gown on a beach, it's your prerogative. Go for it! But me I will yab you o *sticking out my tongue*.

How abt I dint remember my wedding would be during the rainy season when we picked my dress *hehehehe*
ReplyDeleteHow about picking a dress that seem right. Then later discover its not right for the occassion(venue, theme, arena & all). What do I do then? Coz I spent a lot on the first one.
ReplyDeleteWell, there are so many options. But I think the best is to sell the gown to a bridal store. I know of a store that rents wedding gowns and get some of their stock by buying wedding gowns off brides
